Zooey’s Transition Journey
Zooey is a vibrant young woman who started transitioning in late 2019. Needless to say, the COVID-19 pandemic impacted her social life, as it did for all of us, and learning makeup was not a priority for a long time. Now that she is working in person again, she wants to show her co-workers that she has skills that many cisgender women are privileged to learn earlier in life, such as makeup!
We structured two different looks that she can recreate herself: a professional look she can quickly apply on the go after the gym, and a fun and flirty look that she could take to happy hour or on dates. For the professional look, we focused on winged eyeliner and clean complexion that accentuates her natural beauty. For the after-work look, we added to her everyday eye some smoky shadow and played a little with simple contouring. She can now practice on her own with the notes I left her, and can now feel more confident using products she’s already invested in!
